“I am excited to be joining Eutelsat at such a pivotal moment in its history”

Jean-François Fallacher has taken up the role of Chief Executive Officer at Eutelsat Group, marking a pivotal transition for the satellite communications company. His appointment follows a distinguished career at Orange, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President and CEO of Orange France. With leadership experience spanning several major European markets, including Spain, Romania and Poland, Jean-François brings to Eutelsat a wealth of telecom expertise during a period of significant strategic evolution.

His move signals Eutelsat’s intent to align more closely with the broader telecommunications ecosystem – the company described the appointment as “fully aligning Eutelsat with the telecom ecosystem,” reflecting its ambition to move beyond traditional satellite services and become a fully integrated connectivity provider. Jean-François’s deep operational knowledge, honed through complex telecom leadership roles, is expected to be instrumental in this transition.

The change comes as Eutelsat enters a new chapter following its merger with OneWeb, creating the only provider with both geostationary (GEO) and low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations. Under Jean-François’s leadership, Eutelsat aims to leverage its unique infrastructure to strengthen its presence in key growth areas, including mobile and fixed connectivity and government services.

The appointment hints at a broader industry shift, potentially accelerating convergence between satellite and terrestrial networks. Jean-François’s arrival may herald technological innovation and greater collaboration between two historically separate sectors.
