MWC25: Fibocom Showcases AI Solutions Portfolio

Wireless communication and AI solution company Fibocom has presented its expanded portfolio of AI-integrated connectivity modules at Mobile World Congress 2025, marking a strategic shift beyond its traditional focus on IoT solutions. The company, with 26 years in the connectivity sector, is now incorporating AI capabilities into its product range.
“Currently, our main focus is on AI – specifically intelligent and advanced connectivity – which means we're developing smarter modules and smart broadband modules,” says Ralph Zhao, Vice President of MC Product Management at Fibocom.
His Mobile Computing Business Unit combines connectivity and computing functions through an open CPU architecture. “This architecture allows us to incorporate different AI models and provide an open platform where customers can develop and train their own AI models tailored to their products,” he explains.
Fibocom Nebula series addresses growing edge AI computing requirements
At MWC the company showcased its Nebula series, featuring scalable AI computing options. “The first is high-performance computing hardware. Second is our open CPU architecture, which integrates various AI models. Third, we offer scalable AI computing capabilities, ranging from 1 TOPS to 50 TOPS, enabling connection to different AI functionalities,” says Ralph.
This approach allows customers to select hardware, AI models and applications that match their requirements. The Nebula Series includes Fibocom’s proprietary AI Stack for efficient, secure processing on edge devices such as intelligent companion robots.
The range includes several computing configurations to address different usage scenarios. The 18T AI module can run large AI models with up to seven billion parameters locally, while the 3.2T AI module targets lightweight tasks such as object detection and face recognition.
QuickTaste AI solution delivers multilingual capabilities for catering industry
Fibocom also highlighted its QuickTaste AI solution at MWC, designed to transform catering experiences through advanced human-machine interaction and real-time translation. The solution utilises the Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ Series to address operational challenges including language barriers.
- 26 YEARS: Fibocom's experience in the connectivity sector before expanding into AI-integrated solutions
- 100+ LANGUAGES: Number of languages supported by QuickTaste AI for voice and text translation in catering applications
- 1-50 TOPS: Range of computing power available in the Nebula Series, with the 18T module capable of running AI models with up to 7 billion parameters
Supporting over 100 languages in both voice and text formats, the solution enables customers to place orders, make payments and interact through voice commands. The technology incorporates GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 Sonnet AI transcription technology alongside data analytics to provide menu recommendations based on customer history.
Ralph identifies this as part of the company’s strategic direction. “I’m particularly excited about our latest AI innovations, such as QuickTaste AI, which is designed for smarter point-of-sale devices, translators and intelligent AI cameras,” he states.
Fibocom is positioning these products within a broader industry shift towards AI implementation across multiple sectors – a shift which presents both opportunities and challenges for hardware manufacturers and solution providers who must balance capability with usability.
Looking to the future, Ralph points to applications that combine multiple AI functions, such as travel scenarios requiring real-time translation. “For instance, when travelling, you might need real-time translation capabilities for both speech and images. This requires integrating cameras, microphones, speakers, and multimodal AI models into one user-friendly application,” he explains.
Fibocom's approach involves a fundamental change to connectivity module design. Rather than treating connectivity as a separate function, the company is embedding computing and AI capabilities directly into the modules.
“Fibocom’s strategy is to enhance the traditional connectivity pipeline by embedding computing and AI capabilities directly into our modules, creating intelligent, all-in-one solutions,” Ralph explains. “Customers benefit by selecting tailored solutions at varying price points, simplifying integration and deployment for their specific applications. That’s Fibocom’s approach to empowering customers through AI-enabled connectivity solutions.”
