Its efforts mark a pivotal step in narrowing the digital divide across Missouri. With a scalable network platform already capable of supporting over 7.3 million homes and businesses across 20 states, Brightspeed is leveraging its national footprint to meet the growing connectivity demands in this key Midwestern market.

Strategic investment for long-term economic value

Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Brightspeed's vision extends well beyond broadband delivery.

In 2024 alone, it committed over US$1.1m to Missouri-based community initiatives, demonstrating its belief in broadband as a foundational driver of socio-economic development.

Tom Maguire, CEO at Brightspeed

Tom Maguire, CEO at Brightspeed stated: "At Brightspeed, our multi-billion-dollar investment in fibre infrastructure is not just about delivering faster internet—it's about creating long-term value for the communities we serve and for our stakeholders.

"We see broadband as a catalyst for economic development, job creation and innovation."

Driving public-private collaboration

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe

Recognising the importance of cross-sector cooperation, Maguire recently engaged with Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe to discuss the broader implications of fibre expansion. The two explored public-private partnership models aimed at extending digital inclusion to even the state's most remote corners.

Discussions focused on how high-speed broadband can positively impact education, workforce development and quality of life, which are critical factors for ensuring Missouri remains competitive in a digital-first economy.

Market penetration in key communities

Brightspeed is laying down infrastructure and making its presence felt at the grassroots level. Field teams have gone door to door to introduce residents and businesses to Brightspeed Fibre Internet in cities such as:

  1. Columbia, where 37,000 locations are installation-ready
  2. Wentzville, with close to 4,000 homes and businesses eligible for immediate connection
  3. Springfield, where more than 86,000 addresses are now serviceable

The figures underline Brightspeed's focus on accessibility and rapid deployment.

Supporting community infrastructure and culture

Brightspeed's investment strategy includes targeted funding to strengthen local institutions and amenities.

Among the company's recent Missouri contributions:
  • Nearly US$600,000 in sponsorship for athletics at the University of Missouri and Missouri State University
  • US$50,000 for efactory, a regional innovation hub supporting entrepreneurs
  • US$70,000+ towards arts programmes, including Discovery Center of Springfield and The Blue Note in Columbia
  • US$15,000 and US$17,000 respectively to support Greene County and local city parks across Lake St. Louis, Wentzville, St. Peters and O'Fallon
  • US$50,000 to launch the Brightspeed eSports Gaming Zone at Hammons Field, home of the Springfield Cardinals
