CityFibre Deepens its Partnership With VodafoneThree

CityFibre, the UKās largest independent wholesale full-fibre network infrastructure provider, has extended its partnership with VodafoneThree. Under this new arrangement, CityFibre is becoming a preferred supplier for the fixed transmission lines that connect VodafoneThreeās mobile sites.
VodafoneThree is investing £11bn (US$14.5bn) in its mobile network. The mobile operator is seeking to reach 99% 5G Standalone access population coverage by 2030 and 99.96% by 2034.
CityFibre’s expanding broadband network
This expanded partnership builds on the pre-existing arrangement in which CityFibre underpins Vodafone’s retail fixed broadband services. CityFibre currently reaches more than 4.7 million premises in the UK and is working to increase this to 8 million.
More than 330,000 Vodafone residential broadband customers are connected to CityFibre. The services they use include Vodafone’s 2.2Gbps symmetric home broadband service, which is only available on CityFibre’s 10Gbps XGS-PON network. According to CityFibre, these services are driving Vodafone’s high take-up rate across CityFibre’s footprint.
Supporting growth in the broadband market
“CityFibre has digital infrastructure built for the future, enabling our partners to deliver an unbeatable service to their customers,” says Simon Holden, CEO at CityFibre. “CityFibre has grown with Vodafone and Three’s support, becoming the UK’s wholesale provider of choice, and we are delighted to be a key part of VodafoneThree’s vision as it continues to invest and innovate.”
“Our mission is to build the UK’s best network and connect every nation, every community, in every corner of the UK, taking 5G Standalone further than any other operator,” adds Max Taylor, CEO at VodafoneThree. “This partnership with CityFibre supports our ambitions and includes enabling VodafoneThree’s continued growth in the broadband market, bringing our fastest, most reliable broadband to customers in more places.
