Ericsson Unveils 5G AI-Ready Network for Enterprises

Ericsson has introduced a wireless-first branch networking architecture aimed at accelerating secure, AI-driven innovation across distributed enterprise environments. By integrating 5G Advanced, Wi-Fi 7, SD-WAN and zero-trust security into a unified solution, the new platform offers scalable, resilient and intelligent connectivity tailored for the future of business.
The solution suite, underpinned by the recently launched Cradlepoint E400 appliance, addresses the increasing demands of digital transformation in sectors such as finance, healthcare and retail.
With distributed sites requiring dependable, high-performance networking for AI-powered applications and virtual services, Ericsson's new architecture marks a significant step forward in enterprise connectivity.
Key components of the wireless-first solution
At the heart of Ericsson's new architecture is the Cradlepoint E400, the first enterprise-grade routing and security appliance to integrate 3GPP Release 17 5G, Wi-Fi 7, embedded eSIM and dual-SIM support. It offers enterprises high-performance WAN capabilities through cellular, satellite and wired connections, with robust security and flexible deployment options.
Complementing the E400 are newly released LAN switches and Wi-Fi 7 access points, which seamlessly extend local network capacity across small and medium office environments.
They are managed under a single platform – Ericsson's NetCloud Manager – which provides unified visibility, provisioning and control across the entire network.
Further enhancing performance and resilience is the inclusion of SD-WAN and NetCloud SASE, which optimise traffic routing and enforce zero-trust security policies across hybrid WANs.
For mission-critical applications, 5G network slicing is supported, enabling isolated, service-specific connectivity profiles tailored to diverse operational requirements.
Pankaj Malhotra, Head of Enterprise Networking and Security, Enterprise Wireless Solutions at Ericsson, commented, "With the increased speed and decreased latency of 5G, businesses are now looking at 5G as not only a viable alternative to wires but also to innovate and transform their business.
"At Ericsson, we are removing the complexities of LAN architecture, security, cellular management and multi-WAN optimisation with an integrated architecture under a single management platform."
Meeting the needs of lean it teams
The wireless-first model is purpose-built to empower IT departments operating with limited resources. By offering centralised management and AI-driven operational insights through NetCloud Manager, Ericsson enables proactive performance tuning and simplified rollout across large branch networks.
Roy Chua, Founder and Principal at advisory firm AvidThink, stated: "Lean IT teams look for integrated networking and security experiences that remove complexity and provide built-in intelligence to remove operational burden, streamline efficiency and enable proactive management. Ericsson's announcement today addresses requirements from these customers and enables them to take advantage of the latest cellular advances."
As enterprises adapt to AI-led innovation, Ericsson's architecture positions itself as a foundational element for agile digital transformation. Its modular, standards-based components ensure compatibility with evolving network demands, while its cloud-managed structure enables businesses to scale confidently.
In combining next-generation technologies under one architecture, Ericsson is setting a benchmark for enterprise networking—offering a strategic pathway for organisations looking to harness the power of AI, automation and mobility with secure, high-performance infrastructure.
