Alibaba Cloud is strategically expanding its global infrastructure to meet the accelerating demands for AI and cloud services within the telecommunications sector. At its 2025 Apsara Conference, it announced plans to launch new data centres in Brazil, France, and the Netherlands, alongside imminent expansion into Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Dubai.

The developments will significantly enhance Alibaba Cloud’s ability to provide telecom operators and service providers with the resilient, low-latency infrastructure required to support AI-driven network transformation and advanced digital services. Operating 91 availability zones across 29 regions, it is well-positioned to fuel the global telecom sector’s AI-enabled evolution.

Strategic partnerships and regional service centres

Alibaba Cloud is strengthening its support for telecommunications clients by establishing regional service centres in Indonesia and Germany, providing round-the-clock, multilingual support tailored for global operators.

Furthermore, it has launched the AI Catalyst Program, which “offers selected global AI firms expert guidance, access to Alibaba’s AI tools, and substantial cloud credits and tokens for innovation,” fostering a vibrant technology ecosystem and accelerating AI adoption.

Nvidia partnership enhances physical AI for telecom applications

Alibaba Cloud has deepened its AI capabilities through collaboration with Nvidia, saying it is: “integrating the full suite of Nvidia’s Physical AI software stack into its Platform for AI (PAI).”

The integration equips developers with a cloud-native environment to accelerate breakthroughs in humanoid robotics and Physical AI solutions, advancing AI systems that interact with the physical world, such as autonomous vehicles and network automation robotics.

AI technology transforming telecom use cases

Alibaba Cloud’s AI technology is already driving transformation across multiple sectors, with direct implications for telecom operators managing complex, data-intensive networks.

AstraZeneca uses Alibaba Cloud’s LLM Qwen and Model Studio to develop an advanced adverse event reporting tool, which “vastly improved the efficiency of generating adverse event reports from huge amounts of medical literature” with 95% accuracy and tripled operational efficiency.

Shiseido China relies on Alibaba Cloud’s AI-driven Cloud Threat Detection and Response platform for “real-time security analytics and expert threat hunting,” enabling secure digital growth.
