Nokia and Converge Future-Proof PH Data Centres with AI

Nokia has announced a strategic collaboration with Converge ICT Solutions Inc., one of the Philippines’ leading fibre and technology providers, to deploy its Data Centre Fabric solution, enhancing network efficiency, reliability and future readiness.
The partnership centres around deploying Nokia’s state-of-the-art Data Centre Fabric solution, a flexible switching platform that integrates both hardware and software to support the increasing demands of AI and automation across modern digital infrastructures. The deployment will support Converge’s new data centres as it prepares for a surge in AI workloads and high-performance computing (HPC).
Scaling for the AI era
Through the integration of Nokia’s Data Centre Fabric, Converge aims to deliver an improved end-user experience characterised by exceptional speed, reliability and scalability. By design, the solution supports the evolution of digital applications while ensuring operational excellence in cloud-native environments.
Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO and co-founder at Converge states:, “As Converge and many forward-looking technology companies increasingly host AI applications, we need to ensure there is seamless integration with traditional applications.
“We see AI workloads and high-performance computing (HPC) becoming an essential part of our operations, so we’re prepping our data centre networks to be designed for extreme scalability and reliability.”
Strengthening resilience and operational efficiency
The collaboration is expected to enhance Converge’s ability to scale and improve its operational efficiency while ensuring regulatory compliance through sovereign cloud readiness. A key component of the deployment is Nokia’s 7220 Interconnect Router (IXR), a high-capacity, fixed-configuration platform built for demanding connectivity environments.
The routers will run Nokia’s next-generation SR-Linux network operating system and the Event-Driven Automation (EDA) platform, enabling automation at scale with improved response times, lower energy consumption and reduced reliance on computing resources.
“With this collaboration with Converge, we are looking forward to playing a bigger role in the Philippines’ growing data centre industry.
“Our solutions are designed to empower data centre operators, like Converge, to leverage AI-powered automation to ensure unmatched reliability and scalability to prepare the digital infrastructure for the future.”
A strategic move to deliver high-quality experiences
By incorporating AI and automation into its data centre operations, Converge will be better positioned to meet the growing demands of enterprise and consumer users. Nokia’s EDA platform is specifically engineered to optimise cloud-native automation, enabling consistent performance while reducing the computing footprint.
The 7220 IXR routers serve as the backbone of the solution, offering high-scale, low-latency switching tailored for environments where speed, agility and uptime are paramount.
Paulo Martin Santos, Chief Network Transformation Officer at Converge, states: “This crucial initiative with Nokia reflects our commitment to continuously adopt next-generation technology solutions to provide consistently high-quality experience to our customers.
“Nokia’s industry-leading solutions will help us prepare our infrastructure for future demands. The use of automation and AI will enable us to ensure regulatory compliance and to enhance network operations to gain a business edge.”
Nokia’s broader push into the data centre market
The collaboration with Converge forms part of Nokia’s wider strategy to strengthen its position in the global data centre industry. As telcos and enterprises continue to adopt AI, cloud and automation technologies, Nokia is accelerating efforts to deliver next-generation infrastructure purpose-built for the AI era.
In an earlier interview with Data Centre Magazine, Manish Gulyani, Vice President and Head of Marketing for Network Infrastructure at Nokia, highlighted how the company is positioning itself in this rapidly evolving space.
“From a network infrastructure perspective, the key thing we are showcasing is networks for the AI era,” says Manish.
“We want to talk about how AI is driving the demand for data centres, different kinds of workloads around inferencing and training and specifically what that means from a networking perspective.”
Preparing for a connected, AI-driven future
The Nokia-Converge partnership exemplifies how telcos are rethinking infrastructure to support the exponential growth of digital workloads. With AI and high-performance computing moving to the forefront, network operators are increasingly seeking robust, automated and energy-efficient solutions that scale with demand.
By aligning with a global technology leader like Nokia, Converge is reinforcing its commitment to deliver next-generation services while preparing its infrastructure for future innovation.
