Sparkle expands its US network with a new San Diego PoP, offering enhanced IP transit, redundancy and advanced telecom solutions across the Americas

Sparkle, an Italian international service provider and global telecommunications operator has announced a significant expansion of its network infrastructure in the United States.

It has launched a new Point of Presence (PoP) in San Diego, California, reinforcing its commitment to delivering robust, diversified and high-performance connectivity solutions across the Americas.

Strengthening strategic infrastructure

Industry observers note that the new San Diego PoP is a strategic addition to Sparkle’s existing network nodes in McAllen, El Paso and Dallas in the US, as well as Queretaro, Mexico.

The move is a key step in ensuring maximum diversification and redundancy for Sparkle’s local and regional customers. By establishing a presence in San Diego, Sparkle not only expands its geographical reach but significantly enhances network resilience and service reliability for its partners.

The San Diego node is housed within MDC’s carrier-neutral data centre, providing customers with seamless access to a thriving digital ecosystem. The integration of the new PoP with MDC’s facility ensures that its clients benefit from world-class infrastructure and connectivity options.

Integration with Seabone: A Tier-1 global IP backbone

The new PoP fully integrates with Sparkle’s Tier-1 global IP backbone, Seabone, which is renowned for its extensive coverage throughout the Americas. Seabone currently operates 52 points of presence across key markets, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, the United States and Venezuela.

“Our Seabone backbone is the foundation of our global connectivity, enabling us to deliver high-capacity, low-latency services to a diverse customer base.”

Unmatched connectivity via terrestrial and submarine networks

Sparkle’s network is supported by a combination of terrestrial and submarine assets, including four major “digital highways”: Curie in the Pacific, as well as Monet, Seabras-1 and the soon-to-be-launched Manta in the Atlantic.

This infrastructure enables Sparkle to offer five diversified routes for connectivity between South and North America.

Sparkle’s investment in both terrestrial and subsea cables ensures complete redundancy and a top-quality data experience for its customers. The ability to route traffic across multiple paths is a significant advantage in today’s always-on digital environment.

Empowering operators with high-performance services

By design, the San Diego PoP serves a wide range of telecommunications stakeholders, including network operators, ISPs, OTTs, content delivery networks and content and application providers. Organisations can benefit from Sparkle’s reliable, low-latency IP transit services, which offer throughput capabilities in the range of terabits per second.

Access to Sparkle’s high-capacity transit services in San Diego enables it to scale operations and deliver a superior experience to end-users.

Comprehensive suite of advanced IP solutions

In addition to core connectivity, Sparkle’s new PoP offers a comprehensive suite of advanced IP solutions.

They include DDoS Protection, which safeguards networks against cyberattacks and Virtual NAP, which provides virtual access to leading Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) without requiring proprietary infrastructure development.
