As the Official 5G Network of the NFL, Verizon is placing telecommunications infrastructure at the centre of the Super Bowl LX experience, ensuring fans remain connected in the stadium, across the city and at home.

With the game set to bring huge crowds and unprecedented mobile demand to the San Francisco Bay Area, Verizon says it has developed a high-performance network strategy designed to deliver speed, reliability and resilience throughout the event.

From live streaming and social sharing to mission critical communications, the company is positioning its 5G deployment as a core component of the championship week.

Speaking to Reuters, Zaileen Janmohamed, President and CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee, says: “Between the Bay Area Host Committee and the NFL we realised ‌that when you have the biggest event in sport in the ‌United States come to the innovation capital of the world you have to talk about technology and innovation.

“It’s just part of the entire narrative that we are trying to create from a host committee perspective.”

Network investment built for peak demand

Verizon’s telco preparations include an extensive programme of upgrades across the region, supporting the data-heavy requirements of modern sporting events.

Throughout the San Francisco market including at Levi’s Stadium, Verizon has completed nearly 200 individual projects, including expanded C-band and mmWave capacity.

A dedicated C-band small cell has also been placed at the stadium's designated ride-share area to support reliable service as fans arrive and depart.

The network is designed to manage major traffic spikes, ensuring customers can access real-time connectivity no matter where they are during the game.

Enhancing the fan experience through 5G

For Verizon, the focus is on enabling fans to share and engage with Super Bowl moments instantly, both inside and outside the venue.

By deploying 5G Ultra Wideband across the Bay Area, the operator is giving fans the power to share every moment in real time.

The company’s approach reflects a broader trend in the telecoms sector, where major sporting events act as proving grounds for next generation wireless performance.

Round the clock monitoring and operational control

In addition to consumer connectivity, Verizon is placing strong emphasis on network oversight and operational readiness.

Its Network Command Center will monitor performance 24/7, while engineers track real-time traffic patterns from a central "War Room." On-site teams will also operate inside Levi's Stadium to ensure the spectrum remains clear of interference during critical periods.

The scale and capacity of the network is essential not only for fans but also for public safety communications.

By maintaining a robust, high-capacity network, Verizon aims to ensure first responders have the reliable connectivity they need for emergency support throughout the event.

Private wireless solutions for elite event operations

Beyond public 5G coverage, Verizon is deploying private wireless capabilities to support team and production operations during Super Bowl week.

This includes managed private wireless solutions for coach-to-coach communication, supporting strategic calls between sidelines and the booth.

Verizon’s RF teams will also optimise performance throughout the venue, while Private 5G Networks provide secure, low latency connectivity for event production workflows.

Such deployments highlight the growing role of private 5G in large scale events, enabling dedicated network lanes for high priority communications.

Connecting the wider Bay Area

Super Bowl LX activities extend well beyond game day, with venues across San Francisco and San Jose hosting events, media and hospitality programmes.

Verizon has upgraded connectivity at key locations including Moscone Center, the Palace of Fine Arts and convention centres supporting Super Bowl experiences.

Targeted upgrades have also been made at league and team hotels to manage high-density traffic, while practice sites have received dedicated coverage to keep teams connected throughout the week.

Bringing the game home

For viewers watching the game at home, Verizon is also promoting its broadband services and 5G Home Internet as a way to deliver stadium style streaming at home.

With capacity to stream the game in high definition across multiple devices, Verizon says fans can stay connected wherever they are.

The operator's role goes beyond infrastructure, positioning the network as a key teammate supporting one of sport’s biggest stages.
