Victor Dodig Takes the Helm as TELUS' New President and CEO

At TELUS, the passing of its CEO baton marks the end of one of the longest tenures in the Canadian telco sector and the beginning of a carefully planned transition.
Victor Dodig has officially assumed the role of President and CEO of TELUS, succeeding Darren Entwistle, who retired on 30 June after leading the company for 26 years.
Having joined the management team as CEO Designate in May and serving on the TELUS Board since 2022, Victor steps into the position as TELUS looks to build on a period of sustained network investment and customer growth.
“I am honoured to take on this role and look forward to an exciting next chapter in TELUS’ growth,” he said.
“TELUS has a strong foundation across its networks, its people and the communities it serves.
I want to thank Darren for his extraordinary leadership over 26 years in building that foundation and for his invaluable partnership through this management transition.
“I look forward to spending time with our team members, our customers and the investment community – to listen, to learn, and to build on that foundation by driving growth and delivering value to all our stakeholders with discipline and focus.”
A new chapter for TELUS
Victor has more than three decades of executive leadership experience, including 11 years as President and CEO of CIBC, where he led a strategic and financial transformation of the banking group.
His appointment was first announced in February as part of a structured succession plan.
The leadership transition also comes at a positive moment for TELUS' network business. The company recently celebrated being recognised by Opensignal as Canada's most-awarded wireless network, with its February 2026 report awarding TELUS ten top honours across network performance categories.
How Darren Entwistle remains involved
Although stepping down as CEO and leaving the TELUS Board, the former CEO will remain connected to the business as CEO Emeritus and will advise Victor Dodig through to the end of April 2027.
His retirement also coincides with another milestone.
He has been appointed to the Ordre national du Québec, recognising his contribution to the province after more than 25 years leading TELUS' evolution from a regional telco provider into a global technology and communications company.
The honour reflects a career that has seen TELUS expand beyond connectivity into areas including AI and healthcare technology, while establishing Québec as one of the company's key centres for innovation and growth.
