Vodafone and Google Partner for AI Telco Solutions

Vodafone Business and Google Cloud are deepening their partnership to bring agentic AI and enhanced cybersecurity into the telco space, targeting SMEs across Europe.
The collaboration builds on a US$1bn, ten-year agreement signed in 2024 and signals how telco operators are evolving beyond connectivity to deliver integrated digital platforms.
Google Cloud is combining its AI and security stack with Vodafone's network reach, aiming to simplify access to advanced technologies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Vodafone serves 360 million customers across 15 countries, while Google Cloud supports organisations in more than 200 territories.
Together, they are positioning telco infrastructure as the delivery layer for AI-driven business tools.
AI embedded in telco services
The Vodafone Business AI Concierge Central is at the core of the partnership: a new solution powered by Google’s Gemini models and built on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.
Designed as a multi-modal AI agent, the Concierge integrates directly into Vodafone’s connectivity layer, enabling real-time voice and data interactions.
It can respond to customer enquiries, schedule appointments and manage routine tasks continuously, extending telco services into day-to-day business operations.
The service will initially roll out in Germany and Greece, targeting SMEs that need to maintain customer engagement beyond standard working hours.
By automating repetitive processes, the tool allows businesses to focus on growth while ensuring no incoming query is missed.
Fánan Henriques, Product and International Business Director at Vodafone Business, says: “Vodafone Business is helping millions of SMEs unlock the power of AI without the complexity or risk.
“By combining our network and support with Google Cloud’s AI expertise, we’re making advanced, secure AI practical for everyday business use – starting with innovations like AI Concierge, one of the first telephony integrations with Gemini.”
The launch reflects a broader shift in telco, with AI increasingly embedded at network level to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
Cybersecurity as a network service
Alongside AI services, the partnership is introducing a managed detection and response service designed to strengthen cyber resilience among SMEs.
The solution is enabled by Google Security Operations, and combines global threat intelligence with AI-driven analytics, delivered through Vodafone’s telco infrastructure. This allows SMEs to access continuous monitoring and rapid threat response without investing in complex in-house systems.
The MDR service will first launch in Germany, aligning with their strict national data protection standards, before expanding across other European markets later this year.
Oliver Parker, Vice President of Global Generative AI at Google Cloud, says: “By combining our Gemini models and enterprise-grade security expertise with Vodafone’s deep connectivity and customer reach, we are giving SMEs the tools they need to stay protected and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.”
The partnership highlights a growing role in delivering secure, AI-enabled services at scale for telco operators.
Vodafone is positioning itself as a provider of end-to-end digital solutions tailored to the needs of smaller enterprises, by integrating cloud-based intelligence with network capabilities.
