Zayo Europe Delivers 100G Network to GNM in Five Days

In a demonstration of agile infrastructure delivery, Zayo Europe announced the completion of a 100G Wavelength network for carrier-neutral backbone provider GNM, delivered in an unprecedented five working days.
The long-haul route, stretching from Marseille to Amsterdam, was deployed over Zayo Europe’s 800G-ready infrastructure and is engineered for low latency and maximum reliability.
The swift turnaround is rarely seen in high-capacity fibre networks, particularly across international routes.
The latest deployment underlines the operational excellence and customer-first approach both firms are known for within the telecommunications industry.
A strategic alliance for scalable connectivity
Zayo Europe, offering bandwidth infrastructure solutions, operates a pan-European fibre network spanning more than 2.3 million kilometres and connecting more than 600 data centres across 17 metro markets in eight countries.
Designed for scalability and performance, Zayo’s infrastructure underpins services for telecom operators, hyperscalers, data centre operators and enterprises seeking seamless, secure, high-speed connectivity from core to edge.
GNM, with more than 18,000km of DWDM network assets and its proprietary Internet Exchange platform (GNM-IX), delivers high-performance backbone connectivity across Europe.
It supports major global clients such as Google, Vodafone, Telegram and Roblox, enabling them to move data at scale while maintaining optimal latency and reliability.
GNM’s collaboration with Zayo strengthens its backbone infrastructure across key European regions and extends its reach into new markets, ensuring more diverse customer options outside traditional interconnection hubs.
Shared commitment to performance and service
Alex Surkov, Head of Development at GNM, says: “Our focus is on constantly improving the diversity of our networks for our pan-European client base. This project with Zayo Europe does exactly that.
“Since our networks operate in different regions, we see strong potential to complement each other’s coverage.
“We will work closely to explore collaboration opportunities that bring value to both companies and our clients.
“Zayo Europe is also known for its excellent customer service, which speaks directly to our ethos.
“Knowing that the team is prepared to go above and beyond to ensure the highest level of performance was another key reason we selected the firm to drive our ongoing expansion.”
Zayo Europe CEO Colman Deegan echoes this sentiment, seeing the partnership as a timely response to the evolving demands of next-generation connectivity.
He says: “With the constant increase in bandwidth required to power the AI revolution and the move towards 6G, providing low latency, high-speed networks to securely share data has arguably never been more important.
“That GNM turned to us to deliver a 100G Wavelength route from Marseille to Amsterdam to drive connectivity for its vast client base is a testament to the work that put in by the Zayo Europe team over the years.
“We’re already in talks with the GNM team on future collaborative projects and look forward to where the future takes us.”
Future-proofing Europe’s digital backbone
The collaboration between Zayo Europe and GNM highlights the growing need for interoperability, resilience and speed in the telecoms sector.
As the continent faces surging demand from cloud platforms, AI services and content providers, infrastructure partnerships such as this one offer a competitive advantage.
By aligning capabilities and extending infrastructure reach, Zayo Europe and GNM are delivering critical capacity, flexibility and reliability to the market.
It meets current demands and lays the groundwork for future technologies and use cases.
For operators, hyperscalers and enterprises operating across Europe, the message is clear: collaboration accelerates capability.
