The company continues to develop its offerings to suit how the digital workforce continues to evolve. It engages with AI to support businesses in scaling their activities. It is now used in more than 200 countries today.

Perplexity is a free AI search engine designed to revolutionise the way users discover information. Laid out like any other chatbot, users can ask a question and the tool will search the Internet for an accessible and verifiable answer.

A positive aspect of Perplexity AI is that users can see where the chatbot has sourced its information. Every answer is backed by citations from trusted news outlets, academic papers and blogs.

DeepSeek is the name of a free AI-powered chatbot, which acts very similarly to ChatGPT. It became the subject of much conversation at the start of 2025 when it was revealed that the chatbot was just as good as its competitors, with the company reporting this was achieved at a fraction of the cost.

The AI tool arrived at a time when Chinese companies were looking for new ways to transform their products with AI technology. In addition to its affordability, the app is also fairly easy to use.

Asana is a comprehensive work management tool that is designed to help individuals and teams in the workplace to keep track of tasks. It also assists by helping managers delegate responsibilities, monitor progress and communicate in real-time.

By providing a centralised platform for collaboration, Asana helps teams stay organised and focused and aims to ensure that projects are completed on time.

First launched in 2012, the company was valued at US$5.5bn in 2020 and has achieved US$725m in revenue as of 2025.

The platform helps the user plan, track, collaborate and achieve their individual business targets with ease. Zoho offers a range of subscription plans that cater to organisations of carrying sizes, in addition to offering a free plan with five users and three projects with limited features.

First introduced in 2024, Zoom Workplace is an AI-powered collaboration platform that is designed to bring communication, employee engagement and productivity solutions together on a single platform. This is with Zoom AI Companion capabilities integrated throughout to streamline communications, engagement and productivity across work. 

As an open platform, Zoom Workplace enables choice and aims to empower customers to create more seamless experiences with its APIs, SDKs and more than 2,500 integrations in the Zoom App Marketplace, including integrations with Microsoft and Google.

3. Google Gemini

Launched in December 2024, Google’s latest Gemini 2.0 model has introduced several models: Flash, a model optimised for everyday tasks; Pro, focused on coding and complex prompts; and Flash-Lite, designed for cost-effective AI applications.

The platform integrates seamlessly with Google’s ecosystem, offering features like Deep Research for advanced reasoning and long-context analysis. While the base version is free, Gemini Advanced provides access to more sophisticated models for complex tasks like coding and research analysis.

Google has positioned Gemini 2.0 as a step toward a ‘universal assistant,’ offering multimodal capabilities across text, video, images and code.

2. Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft Copilot, or Copilot, is a generative AI (Gen AI) chatbot developed by Microsoft. Based on the GPT-4 series of LLMs, it was first launched in 2023 as Microsoft’s replacement for Cortana.

Copilot generates content, offers suggestions and automates tasks to support users of a wide range of Microsoft technologies, including Windows, Microsoft 365 and GitHub. The tool is integrated to unleash greater creativity and unlock productivity and uplevel skills.

ChatGPT, launched by OpenAI in late 2022, has become the world’s most widely used AI application, reaching 200 million users by October 2024. The platform has evolved significantly since its inception, with its GPT-4o model representing a major advancement in speed and cognitive capabilities.

The system offers multimodal functionality, allowing users to interact with images and analyse visual data, while maintaining conversation context for more personalised interactions. Interactions with ChatGPT are designed to make things more efficient for the user, with workers often using it to boost their productivity. 

ChatGPT is available in multiple tiers, from a free version offering limited access to GPT-4o and unlimited access to GPT-4o mini, to a Plus subscription at $20 monthly and a Pro tier at $200 monthly. 

In early 2025, OpenAI introduced ‘Operators’ – AI agents capable of tasks like hotel booking and online shopping, though this feature remains in development.
