Colt: Powering Barcelona's Digital Telco Connectivity Hub

Colt Technology Services has become the first telecommunications operator to establish connectivity at Digital Realty's BCN1 data centre in Barcelona.

The deployment brings 400G-capable network infrastructure to the facility ahead of its official launch.

The carrier activated its Point of Presence at the site to provide immediate connectivity options for incoming customers.

This approach removes the typical delay between facility opening and network availability.

Colt's 400G backbone extends to BCN1

Colt extended its trans-European and global backbone into the Barcelona facility.

The network infrastructure supports Optical and IP services with bandwidths reaching 400G.

The deployment targets Global Content Networks, enterprises and strategic alliance partners.

These organisations typically require high-capacity connectivity combined with secure cloud access routes.

Pre-launch network availability allows tenants to activate services immediately upon moving into the data centre.

This removes the waiting period normally associated with telecommunications infrastructure installation.

First mover in new facility

Mediterranean gateway to FLAP markets

BCN1 functions as an interconnection point between Mediterranean subsea cable systems and Europe's established FLAP markets: Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam and Paris.

The location provides organisations with alternative routing into major European networks.

This positioning could help customers avoid congestion at longer-established hubs.

By integrating BCN1 into its trans-European backbone, Colt expanded connectivity options for customers operating across the Iberian Peninsula.
