Schneider & Samsung Partner to Simplify Connected Buildings

As telco operators continue expanding IoT and smart building services, interoperability is one of the biggest barriers facing connected infrastructure.
Many residential and commercial buildings still rely on fragmented systems for lighting, HVAC and security, often managed through separate platforms that limit visibility and operational efficiency.
A new partnership between Schneider Electric and Samsung aims to address those challenges by integrating Schneider Electric’s SpaceLogic KNX building automation portfolio with Samsung’s SmartThings and SmartThings Pro platforms.
The collaboration is designed to help users improve energy visibility and simplify automation across connected environments.
Tackling fragmented building systems
For telco providers supporting enterprise connectivity and IoT deployments, managing multiple disconnected systems across buildings can create operational complexity.
Facility managers often struggle to monitor energy usage and occupancy data across different locations because devices and controls operate on separate proprietary systems.
Through the new integration, Schneider Electric’s SpaceLogic KNX devices can now connect directly with Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem, allowing users to manage systems through a single dashboard.
This includes visibility into occupancy and temperature settings in real time across homes and commercial properties.
“Interoperability has become increasingly important in both residential and commercial environments, where customers expect connected systems to work together seamlessly,” says Laurent Roussel, SVP Commercial & Channel at Schneider Electric.
“Integrating SpaceLogic KNX with Samsung SmartThings expands how customers can manage their connected devices, personalise their automation experience and gain greater visibility into energy usage across homes and buildings.”
Samsung said its certification process enabled Schneider Electric to integrate its full portfolio quickly, helping users simplify building operations and automate energy management through one interface.
Expanding smart home opportunities
One of the biggest challenges for consumers has been managing multiple apps and incompatible ecosystems across connected devices.
By linking SpaceLogic KNX solutions with SmartThings, homeowners can control Schneider Electric systems alongside other smart appliances and electronics within the same platform.
The companies say this can help residents personalise automation more easily while improving insight into energy usage.
The announcement follows several recent SmartThings integrations with third-party smart home brands, including IKEA’s Matter-over-Thread devices such as smart plugs and bulbs.
Growing the SmartThings ecosystem
Samsung says improving accessibility is key to expanding smart home adoption, particularly for users entering the market for the first time.
“By connecting IKEA devices to SmartThings, even first-time smart home users can enjoy a familiar and easy connectivity experience without financial burden,” said Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President of SmartThings, AI Platform Centre at Samsung Electronics.
“SmartThings will continue to expand its ecosystem through partnerships, enabling more consumers to enjoy seamless and convenient smart home experience within the SmartThings ecosystem regardless of brand or communication protocol."
