Nokia and Senetas form an alliance to deliver quantum-resistant encryption with mission-critical network systems for defence and government users

Senetas Corporation and Nokia announce a strategic alliance aiming to provide joint capabilities for mission-critical network environments. The agreement brings Senetas’ quantum-resistant encryption technology together with Nokia’s mission-critical network systems developed for defence, government and critical infrastructure operators. The partnership is positioned within ongoing investment across Asia in sovereign defence capacity and infrastructure resilience.

Senetas is an Australian-founded defence technology company that supplies high-assurance cybersecurity systems to defence, government and critical infrastructure organisations in more than 60 countries.

Its technologies provide certified quantum-resistant network encryption to protect against future threats.

It focuses on protecting data in motion and at rest. Senetas technologies are distributed globally by Thales and comply with international security standards and certifications, including Common Criteria, FIPS and DoDIN APL.

The combined solution aims to help customers reduce attack vectors across their networks, from the data centre to distributed edges.

It includes communication paths supporting autonomous platforms used for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance operations, as well as those connected with combat systems.

The two companies state that the integration will supply consistent security controls across dispersed operational environments.

Nokia’s optical LAN, IP and optical product families, when paired with Senetas’ quantum-resistant encryption, are designed to protect operational assets against cyber threats.

The companies note that it is relevant to defence users seeking to meet certification requirements across sovereign and international frameworks.

Donny Janssens, Head of Partners for Network Infrastructure, Asia Pacific at Nokia

Donny Janssens, Head of Partners for Network Infrastructure, Asia Pacific at Nokia, says: “Nokia is a trusted partner to the defence community, providing scalable, secure and resilient mission-critical networks, be it making military bases smarter with field-proven fibre technologies or by deploying secure multi-service wide area networks for modern defence operations with IP/MPLS and optical networks.

"By partnering with Senetas, we are enhancing our quantum-safe solution to address additional defence-specific needs as well as expanding our Defence-in-Depth strategy,” he adds

Donny presents the partnership as an expansion of Nokia’s existing work with defence customers, emphasising the role of quantum-safe technologies.

Senetas encryption extends across defence environments

Senetas’ quantum-resistant encryption systems are already deployed in a range of defence environments. It notes they support secure communications from core networks to locations at the tactical edge. It includes communications linked to submarine operations and aerial missions.

The systems aim to provide consistent protection of sensitive data, whether handled within central facilities or transmitted during field operations.

Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of Senetas

The companies explain that the joint Nokia and Senetas solution aims to allow defence and government customers to maintain data integrity and confidentiality across high-speed networks.

It is framed as support for meeting sovereign and international certification requirements, including FIPS and Common Criteria. With many Asian countries directing investment toward strengthening national security and infrastructure protection, both companies position their efforts within this context.

Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of Senetas, says, “At Senetas, we’ve engineered highly certified encryption solutions designed for the most demanding environments and this strategic alliance will bring those capabilities into critical defence and government networks globally.

"By combining our independently-certified, quantum-resistant technology with Nokia’s world-class network infrastructure, we are delivering a new benchmark for secure, end-to-end communications.”

Andrew highlights the intention to extend Senetas’ systems further into global defence networks through the partnership.

Sovereign technology focus across Nokia and Senetas portfolios

A key element of the partnership is its emphasis on sovereign and trusted technologies. Senetas, headquartered in Australia, positions its technology development and control within secure jurisdictions.

Nokia brings global mission-critical network experience and a long-established security framework designed around layered protection. The companies state that combining these features assures defence and national security stakeholders seeking systems with defined supply chains and verifiable certification paths.

The alliance demonstrates the growing necessity for quantum-resistant security measures as governments assess future threat environments.

By pairing Nokia’s network systems with Senetas encryption technologies, the companies aim to support operators managing sensitive communications and distributed mission-critical assets.
