Singapore Partners with Quantinuum for Quantum Hub Launch
Singapore’s National Quantum Office (NQO) and Quantinuum have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the development of quantum computing in the country.
Quantinuum, considered a leader in quantum computing, will bring its Helios system to Singapore to establish a new operations, research, and development centre.
The collaboration supports the goals of Singapore’s National Quantum Strategy, led by NQO.
It will advance quantum hardware and software capabilities, as well as talent development, through the National Quantum Computing Hub (NQCH).
The target date for Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer installation is 2026 and it will be the first time the system is hosted outside the United States – offering researchers local access to one of the most advanced commercial quantum machines available.
The system’s design features a fully connected physical and logical qubit architecture, along with a sophisticated software stack designed to accelerate quantum computing adoption.
With immediate effect, researchers in Singapore will gain cloud-based access to Helios, enabling collaboration in various sectors.
The partnership will see Quantinuum establish an R&D and Operations Centre in Singapore, working closely with local researchers, industry partners and staff to develop middleware and applications that bridge classical and quantum systems.
The shared goal is to accelerate the translation of quantum computing into commercially relevant solutions, while building long-term research and development capabilities in both hardware and software.
Mr Ling Keok Tong, Executive Director of the National Quantum Office, says: “This partnership marks an important step in building Singapore as a leading quantum computing hub.
“Through the National Quantum Computing Hub, we are advancing quantum-enabled applications in sectors such as healthcare, materials science, and finance.
"Working with Quantinuum will accelerate this progress, deepen local capabilities and position Singapore as a leading quantum computing hub in the region, driving real-world outcomes.”
The collaboration will foster a quantum ecosystem in Singapore through programmes that include internships, workshops and talent development initiatives designed to build a pipeline of quantum specialists.
Quantinuum will work directly with industry end-users in Singapore to develop quantum computing applications addressing domains such as computational biology, drug discovery, financial modelling and optimisation, as well as advanced materials, chemistry and combinatorial optimisation.

Singapore’s National Quantum Computing Hub serves as a national initiative advancing quantum software and applications, providing access to quantum computers and promoting public-private partnerships.
The Hub pursues practical quantum advantage across fields including quantum chemistry, computational biology, finance and optimisation. It maintains programmes to support talent development, which is crucial to the emerging quantum sector.

The strategic partnership builds on earlier collaborations with Singapore’s quantum ecosystem, including agreements with the A*STAR Bioinformatics Institute and Duke-NUS Medical School made in 2024.
These foundations have helped set the stage for the next phase of cooperation aimed at realising commercial and research value from quantum computing technologies.
