T-Mobile Connects Las Vegas Grand Prix with 5G Power

T-Mobile deployed its 5G network at the Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix to support broadcast operations, fan experiences and on-site communications. Its technologies, including private 5G connectivity, network slicing and drone integration, power critical systems across the event.
Mike Katz, President of Marketing, Strategy and Products, T-Mobile, says the company continues to strengthen its partnership with the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
“In our third year partnering with the Las Vegas Grand Prix, we’re once again pushing the limits of innovation, powering real-time race operations, a 360-degree broadcast camera, immersive fan experiences and more, all with the strength of America’s Best Network,” he says.
Mike adds that T-Mobile customers benefit from exclusive services during race weekends, including access to app-exclusive replays, premium viewing at Club Magenta and seamless 5G coverage across the circuit.
Through its Advanced Network Solutions (ANS) platform, T-Mobile is powering a range of high-bandwidth applications for race organisers, emergency services and fans.
The network will support drones, 360-degree cameras, cashless payment systems and other connected devices in one of the most data-intensive sports events in the world.
5G-connected cameras and edge control technology elevate broadcast
For the first time at the Grand Prix, a 360-degree camera and live drone feeds are powered by T-Mobile 5G to deliver broadcast content from trackside and aerial perspectives along the Las Vegas Strip.
The cameras, deployed with T-Mobile ANS and a dedicated private 5G network, provide broadcasters and production teams with live, high-quality feeds from the race environment.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix Campus Show, streamed across multiple locations, runs on T-Mobile’s 5G ANS infrastructure.
It uses Edge Control technology for ultra-low-latency transmission from venues including the Paddock Club Rooftop, the T-Mobile Zone at Sphere and the T-Mobile Stage.
It marks the first commercial use of T-Mobile’s Edge Control, providing race partners with a managed service for live video and analytics during the event.
T-Mobile T-Priority supports Las Vegas first responders
Behind the scenes, T-Mobile’s 5G Standalone network enables secure, prioritised connectivity for public safety agencies. Its T-Priority service, powered by network slicing, provides up to five times more network resources to maintain essential communications during periods of network congestion.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and event organisers used T-Priority for mission-critical communications.
LVMPD deployed a 5G-connected drone equipped with live video streaming to enhance situational awareness and response times.
The drone, linked through T-Mobile’s 5G network, allowed real-time visual coverage of the race perimeter and crowd zones.
SuperMobile and push to Talk Drive vent operations
Across the 3.8-mile circuit, event staff used T-Mobile’s SuperMobile solution, which integrates network slicing, enterprise-grade security and satellite connectivity for staff working in remote sections of the venue.
According to T-Mobile, the setup maintains voice and data reliability even in congested or low-signal areas.
SuperMobile formed part of T-Mobile’s operational backbone during the event, supporting point-of-sale systems, ticketing validation and media content transfers.
Race photographers and broadcasters uploaded imagery directly via the 5G network, eliminating the need for wired connections.
T-Mobile Mission Critical Push to Talk enabled immediate staff communication throughout the event, from the build-up to the final lap.
F1 Las Vegas App and Magenta Status extend fan engagement
Fans attending the Grand Prix had access to the official F1 Las Vegas app, presented by T-Mobile, which delivers digital tools such as circuit navigation, race schedules and live replays.
The app integrates 360-degree video captured by 5G-connected cameras, allowing fans to explore the Las Vegas Strip Circuit virtually.
Through T-Mobile’s Magenta Status programme, customers gain exclusive viewing options and access to Club Magenta, a dedicated fan zone featuring main stage performances, entertainment and viewing areas across the circuit.
Mike notes that “T-Mobile customers get VIP treatment all weekend long – from front-row views at Club Magenta to exclusive replays in the F1 Las Vegas app and seamless 5G connectivity across the entire circuit.”
T-Mobile zone at the sphere returns for race week
The T-Mobile Zone at Sphere will again serve as a significant event hub, hosting performances from T-Pain, mgk and Zedd.
The zone will support live link-ups with T-Mobile’s 5G broadcast network for enhanced coverage of on-track and off-track activity.
Registered T-Mobile customers can access the area via Magenta Status in the T-Mobile app and may bring up to 2 guests.
The zone combines entertainment with live feeds powered by T-Mobile’s 5G infrastructure, connecting race attendees to performances and real-time data from the circuit.
The integration reflects how telecommunications infrastructure supports modern large-scale events, connecting broadcast, safety, media and fan services through network slicing and private 5G deployment.
